Jordan Thatcher
MFT-I
Having traveled extensively and moved over 20 times throughout my life, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the diversity and uniqueness of each person’s experiences. My goal is to bring everything I learned from my travels into sessions, while also practicing cultural humility.
My biggest goal is to tailor sessions to meet the individual needs of everyone I work with.
I have specialized training in supporting a variety of demographics of people, but particularly couples and children. My background includes work as a therapist trainee at a private practice, a crisis counselor for 988 Lifeline, and as a teacher, which all gave me skills I bring in to benefit my clients in different ways. I enjoy using Gottman Therapy for couples as it takes an emotionally focused approach to relationships and also helps with communication challenges. Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) are two other types of modalities which can assist people in finding effective solutions and ways to cope through hard times using things that work for them personally. Narrative Therapy is another method I like which helps transform the perspective of things that have happened and shine a new light into the past and future. Mindfulness and Meditation exercises are something I love to bring into sessions to help the body and mind sink up and to calm the nervous system when stress, anxiety or emotional dysregulation are present.
